Are You Getting Enough Protein?

From an ethical vantage, my druthers are to be vegetarian. However, after 20 years without meat and dairy, I developed advanced (invasive) cervical cancer. Thankfully, I was able to heal that naturally by, in part, adding meat back to my diet. Now, two decades later, I give thanks for remaining cancer-free.

Are you getting enough protein?  If you’re like most of my incoming clients, your diet is high in carbohydrates (bread, pasta, grain, fruit, juice, salad and sweets) and short of protein. This leads to hypoglycemia and, if unchecked, typically diabetes. You can regain and/or support a return to better health with a balanced diet.

Eating enough protein is especially problematic for vegetarians.  Heretofore, non-meat eating cultures relied primarily upon dairy and/or beans for their protein needs.  Today, many people can’t easily digest beans and dairy and so, for protein, they often nibble on nuts and seeds. There’s nothing wrong with a few almonds, but don’t delude yourself into thinking that they are an adequate protein staple.

Yes, nuts take the edge off of hunger.  Recall how that feels. Now, imagine sitting down to a bowl of chicken soup. It satisfies, pleases, comforts and imparts a quality of energy that far excels a smear of nut butter.

I hope that you enjoy good protein with every meal. Note, how it makes you feel more energized and "grounded."

May you be well nourished!
