Feeding the Whole Family

Accompanying recipes: Orange-Glazed Salmon Kebobs, Yogurt Garlic Dip

If your children fill up on snacks instead of nourishing meals, here’s a guide and cookbook for you. Cynthia Lair’s Feeding the Whole Family:  Recipes for Babies, Young Children and Their Parents helps busy parents make one nutritionally sound meal that—with a few adaptations—both children and parents will enjoy. For almost any recipe, Lair shows you how to make it appeal to the very young (who favor simple and easy to digest foods) and how to jazz it up for more sophisticated adult palates.

First published in 1997, Feeding the Whole Family has been a perennial guide for whole foods parents.  It’s now updated and revised with 180 recipes that use full-flavored whole (versus refined) foods.  From soup (like Tomato Basil Soup) to nuts (Sweet Apple Walnut Kale) her recipes and guide are easy to follow and packed with helpful hints. Including, for example, a comprehensive list of how to reduce flatulence caused by eating beans. See her accompanying salmon recipe.

Cynthia Lair, a certified Nutrition Counselor has been on the faculty of Bastyr University’s School of Nutrition and Exercise Science since 1994.  I’m a long time Cynthia fan and value her common sense culinary wisdom.

May you be well nourished!
